MR BIKE’S BIO

Dave Glowacz—known worldwide as Mr Bike—conceived and wrote the popular book Urban Bikers’ Tricks & Tips. He and his bike have dodged cars, beat thieves, and cruised roads for over 30 years. As a certified bike instructor with the League of American Bicyclists, Dave has talked and ridden with cyclists in every North American metro area and in cities all over the world. And he has created and taught bicycling workshops and classes worldwide.

Dave has backgrounds in engineering and journalism. As a writer, Dave’s articles have appeared in newspapers and magazines throughout the world. And since 1995 Dave has authored the
Safe Bicycling series of books that have won local awards and international praise. His journalism continues in print, broadcast, and on-line media at Inside Chicago Government.

From 2000 to 2007 Mr Bike served as the director of education for the Chicagoland Bicycle Federation (now the Active Transportation Alliance), one of North America’s most successful bicycling advocacy organizations. He served on the Federation’s board of directors from 1991 to 2000.

According to renowned international bicycling activist Jim Redd, Mr Bike’s efforts “have inspired Chicago’s cycling community, and his unique ability to empower inexperienced riders has earned him a reputation as a valuable and sought-after resource for all urban cyclists.”
